History

In ancient Egypt, barley was one of the first domesticated grains and has been cultivated since the earliest of times. It is said that the ancient Egyptians believed that one day Osiris, God of Agriculture, made a decoration of barley that he germinated with the sacred waters of the Nile. He left it for some time then drank it. The outcome was such a tasty drink which he liked a lot and decided to let mankind benefit from it. Today the story continues…

In support of local farmers

Fayrouz, the true Egyptian sparkling fruit flavoured malt beverage, endorses “From Grain to Gain” campaign focusing on “malt” its core natural ingredient. From the farm to the final beverage, Fayrouz is involved in every step of the process; from farmers training, ensuring proper crop rotation for better yield, to state of the art technology in the plants guaranteeing best quality is maintained.

International expertise

Since 2004, Fayrouz has been using the expertise of Mr. Rob Persyn, a global farming expert, with a Masters Degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Leuven, Belgium. He has extensive experience in plant breeding & seed production that spans over 30 years, specialising in malt barley production and malt barley varieties breeding. In his opinion, farming efficiency and plantation process improvement happen on phases:

– Introducing quality varieties

– Selecting good production areas

– Having proficient agricultural teams

– Employing the best farmers

In Fayrouz, we have a permanent team dedicated to search for the best possible adapted varieties that are suitable for different growing zones (Oasis, Delta, South,…etc).
